Lexis/Nexis offers an enormous wealth of full-text databases (in the
realms of news, law, finance, patents) and a version of MEDLINE. The search
interface is not very friendly (see the Guide to Searching , available at
the Reference Desk), but extraordinarily powerful.
It may be useful to search the NEWS library for mass-media coverage of
your topic (some newspaper science writing is quite respectable, and
helpful when you are grappling with the early stages of research).
