This article explains Japan's drug trafficking in prewar Fujian. They sold Heroin, Opium, and various

Taiwan voyages into unchartered seas Asia Times CK

Kinmen, TAIWAN - A privately-owned ship made a direct voyage from the Taiwan-held frontline island

of Kinmen to the southeastern mainland Chinese port city of Xiamen on Monday, marking yet another

step forward in the "mini three links" program.

It was the first time that a private boat had been allowed to sail directly to Xiamen since Taiwan

opened direct trade, mail, and shipping links between its two offshore defense outposts of Kinmen

and Matsu and mainland China's Xiamen and Mawei in Fujian Province - commonly known as the "mini

three links" - at the beginning of this year.

The 3,500-ton Kinmen Marine Transport Company-owned ship carried 295 Kinmen residents to Xiamen

for a five-day package tour. Since January 1, Kinmen county government-run ferry boats have made

10 direct voyages to Xiamen. Lin Chen-cha, director of the county government's tourism bureau, says

he is very pleased to see a private shipping firm join the direct Kinmen-Xiamen shipping service.
