Warping

 

1. open ArcView 3.1 with the Novell Application Launcher


2. File>>Extensions, Select Spatial Analyst and Spatial Tools 3.2, Click OK


3. Create a new View (View 1)


4. View>>Properties, Click Projection...


5. Select UTM--1927, Zone 17, Click OK

 

 

 

 

 

 

 

 


6. File>>Set Working Directory, Select P:/temp as your working directory

 

 

 

7. Add Theme to View 1 (browse to p:/va_geotiffs/drg - bv & roa 503726/data/)


8. change Feature Data Source to Image Data Source, then select the USGS quad you wish to use (037079g4.tif is the Lexington quad)


9. create a New View (View 2)


9. add Theme to this view (View 2). This will be your aerial image (make sure it is in *.tif format)


10. do not set the projection for View 2


11. with View 2 active, Theme>>Convert to Grid, save new grid in p:/temp


12. Add new grid as a theme


13. double-click grid theme to adjust colors (change to Gray Monochromatic, reverse order of color gradient)


14. Transformation>>Set From View, choose View 2 (the image grid)


15. Transformation>>Select To View, Choose View 1 (or the geo-referenced map)


16. Create Link Table, create it in p:/temp


17. in the From View, click the "S", or "Start Points" button


18. click on your first common feature; the To View will then appear-- choose the corresponding point in this view
