Forum discusses culture of southern Fujian. EAI PS

A forum on the influential culture of southern Fujian was held Saturday in the east China province's

southern coastal city Quanzhou.



More than 70 scholars, including some from Singapore, the Philippines, Malaysia, Indonesia, Japan, the

United States and other foreign countries and regions, attended the forum.



People of southern Fujian are known worldwide for their diligence and eagerness to work abroad. At

present, more than 6 million Chinese of southern Fujian origin live in more than 90 countries and

regions around the world, bringing their culture to those places.



Of the more than 20 million people in Taiwan, nearly 80 have their origins in southern Fujian. These

people still manage to retain their culture to varying degrees.
