Summer 2001 in the Science Library
28 May 2001
I'll collect here some ideas for Projects and Things To Do, as they
occur to me.
Electronic Journals
-
HighWire journals offer free
full text access on a rolling basis, typically 6 or 12 months. We need
to incorporate links to these titles, with inclusive dates, into our database
of electronic access possibilities.
-
The Access
database that Terry Lewis set up to manage Science online subscriptions
needs to be adapted and extended
-
Bowdoin's Find E-journals
is worth a look, and links to several other large indexes
Access Database Issues
-
I'd like to build a
desktop app that would let me enter items into a Collection --books,
URLs, citations for electronic and paper journal articles, and so on. The
Collection could be queried and used to supply minibibliographies for various
specific purposes. It would also facilitate annotation in various forms,
including linking of items to other similar resources. (pretty much done,
27/vi)
Information Access
-
Current
state of the deployment and use of various tools (which started from
a request by Barbara for a statement about the need for the archive of Web
of Science). (this evolved into my Annual
Report for the Science Library, submitted 13/viii)
