A purview is a place of [metaphorical] vantage,
from which one views the world of the senses as an incoming flow of Information.
Making sense of a lifetime of that flow seems to take place in the Mind,
and to imbricate language and memory and Imagination
in the verisimilitudinous construction of Patterns,
and the forging of Stories and Narrative
that constitute and elaborate a World Model.
Every human does that, but paying close personal attention to details of that continuing process is a choice that only a minority thinks about —and most of those who do have the luxury of easeful old age. Perfect territory for the octogenarian, whose sense of social obligation is beginning to shift away from active external-world engagements, and yields toward an inclination to reviewing the Past of a lifetime —with satisfaction, or sometimes with grievance, with guilt rooted in omissions and commissions, in recognition of the undone and the incomplete, and of a rear-view mirror of branching paths, taken and not taken...
One's own developed purview doesn't necessarily convey to others: too complex, too interwoven with personal experience and memory, and with Imagination and whimsy. The stuff of Stories. The grand semantic space modeled by MY Keywords is an approximation to the conceptual underpinnings of MY Purview.
