I can see it in the Mind's Eye: a sort of lemonade stand set up on Cambridge Street, but with a sign offering Information, from which I distributed maps of the Harvard-centered part of Cambridge. I was probably 9 years old, and it was my first enterprise aimed at Informing Others.

It wasn't until I began to become a Librarian (at Simmons in 1991) that Information became an explicit center of my attention and study, and the odyssey of the last almost-35 years has seen an extraordinary breadth of development...
