This was a useful exercise... and makes me think about trying some more innovative ways to use the lab facilties we're in. "Less lecture" is probably the single most frequent request, and I'll try to come up with some ways that still allow me to get important things across. I'll work on it.
One thing we'll surely do is more systematic guided use of assorted periodicals as a way of finding useful materials for projects and provinces. It's simply astounding how much stuff is at our fingertips, once we figure out how to use the search interfaces available to us. Then the problem is how to handle the flood, how to sort worthwhile from time-wasting, and so on. Besides their value for the day-to-day requirements of Anthropology 230, I think these are life skills, applicable to just about everything else. Sooooo... we need to develop the ways to approach this mountain of stuff creatively and expeditiously. I'll work on that, too.
