Today&#8217;s <a href=\"http:\/\/itre.cis.upenn.edu\/~myl\/languagelog\/archives\/003850.html\">Mark Liberman posting<\/a> hits several targets at once. He&#8217;s pointing to a screencast about some Digital Commons possibilities for legal education. <\/p>\n<p>There are details in <a href=\"http:\/\/www2.cali.org\/screencasts\/scotus\/elangdell\/elangdell.html\">the presentation<\/a> [a 23:14 Camtasia creation] that I&#8217;d quibble with, or formulate differently, and I care not a whit about <i>legal<\/i> education&#8230; but the screencast is worth 23 minutes of your time as an <i>example<\/i> of &#8230;well, <br \/>(1) what to do when weather keeps you from getting to the conference at which you&#8217;re supposed to speak [really what happened to the author, John Mayer of the <a href=\"http:\/\/www2.cali.org\/\">Center for Computer Assisted Legal Instruction<\/a>], <br \/>(2) what&#8217;s just over the horizon in education generally, and <br \/>(3) an elegant and efficient summary of relevant technologies to inflict upon colleagues who don&#8217;t <i>get it<\/i> yet.<\/p>\n<p>Mayer&#8217;s other presentations from <a href=\"http:\/\/itre.cis.upenn.edu\/%7Emyl\/languagelog\/archives\/003843.html\">a [Carnegie Mellon] workshop<\/a> on &#8220;approaches to the analysis of U.S. Supreme Court oral arguments&#8221; are also worth your attention: his <a href=\"http:\/\/www2.cali.org\/screencasts\/scotus\/intro\/Introduction.html\">Introduction to the work of CALI<\/a> [15:08] and something on their <a href=\"http:\/\/www2.cali.org\/screencasts\/scotus\/fantasysupremecourt\/fantasysupremecourt.html\">Fantasy Supreme Court<\/a> project [8:39].<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"<p>Readers of this blog will know that I find Language Log a perennial source of toothsome things.
