Just take the example of <a href=\"http:\/\/www.youtube.com\/watch?v=kBFYylGlwxI\">Rajrupa Sen&#8217;s sarod<\/a> (6:37 YouTube performance), and <a href=\"http:\/\/www.youtube.com\/watch?v=R2OnBtNPTms\">a second example<\/a> (6:06) with even clearer view of technique. Or <a href=\"http:\/\/www.youtube.com\/watch?v=x860SGP_9MU\">Ismail Tuncbilek&#8217;s saz and Husnu Senlendirici&#8217;s clarinet<\/a> (6:34, with appreciative live audience), and <a href=\"http:\/\/www.youtube.com\/watch?v=WpgktHpc5rw\">a studio setting<\/a> (5:51) for another view that concentrates more on the interaction among the players (and is pretty jazzy too). Or try <a href=\"http:\/\/www.youtube.com\/watch?v=1fF8WtguWgY\">Ram Narayan&#8217;s sarangi<\/a> (5:15 &#8211;less than optimal video, but gives a clear view of a master at work). Or <a href=\"http:\/\/www.youtube.com\/watch?v=kfTWlQzTHQA\">Michalis Tzouganakis&#8217; laouto<\/a> (2:15) or <a href=\"http:\/\/www.youtube.com\/watch?v=mYKvqfMEHSY\">a less traditional example<\/a>, Pali-Pali (5:05) &#8230;and\/or <a href=\"http:\/\/www.youtube.com\/watch?v=9OV_76EL0JI\">this one<\/a>, with dancers.<br \/>\nTo <i>see<\/i> such performances makes such a difference in understanding and appreciation, and we can confidently expect more and more diversity of musical styles, and more experimentation. This <a href=\"http:\/\/www.youtube.com\/watch?v=WeLFNtBWvHo\">cuatro example<\/a> (1:55) is the tip of a potential iceberg of videos made by people practicing their instruments.
