This one is OK but undistinguished, a bit of beach with outflowing stream and modest figure in the sand:<center><\/p>\n<p><a data-flickr-embed=\"true\"  href=\"https:\/\/www.flickr.com\/photos\/blackmerh\/31450439948\/in\/dateposted-family\/\" title=\"DI14x18103\"><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" src=\"https:\/\/farm2.staticflickr.com\/1935\/31450439948_db8a8c344f_z.jpg\" width=\"640\" height=\"427\" alt=\"DI14x18103\"><\/a><script async src=\"\/\/embedr.flickr.com\/assets\/client-code.js\" charset=\"utf-8\"><\/script><br \/>\n<\/center><br \/>\nbut turn the sucker 180 degrees and crop just a bit and a whole new scene emerges, considerably more sculptural in its sensibilities:<br \/>\n<center><\/p>\n<p><a data-flickr-embed=\"true\"  href=\"https:\/\/www.flickr.com\/photos\/blackmerh\/45382339132\/in\/dateposted-family\/\" title=\"bas relief of the damned\"><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" src=\"https:\/\/farm2.staticflickr.com\/1902\/45382339132_5d3a7fe493_z.jpg\" width=\"640\" height=\"419\" alt=\"bas relief of the damned\"><\/a><script async src=\"\/\/embedr.flickr.com\/assets\/client-code.js\" charset=\"utf-8\"><\/script><br \/>\n<\/center><br \/>\nI was immediately reminded of Rodin&#8217;s Gates of Hell, which I visited a few years ago at Stanford&#8217;s Cantor Museum.
