That stance began to weaken when I really <i>looked<\/i> at <a href=\"http:\/\/www.uelsmann.net\/\">Jerry Uelsmann&#8217;s work<\/a>, and in recent years has fallen away almost completely. A visit (last weekend) to John Paul Caponigro&#8217;s annual Open Studio was especially heartening (see his <a href=\"http:\/\/johnpaulcaponigro.com\/gallery\/featured-collections\/revelation\/\">Revelation series<\/a>), though John Paul&#8217;s mastery of technique is daunting.<\/p>\n<p>\nMy own composite images have mostly been symmetrical mirrorings, which I&#8217;m pleased to think of as <b>tessellations<\/b>, though most of them are 2x and 4x and don&#8217;t really amount to multi-unit tiling, though some of the work with Betsy&#8217;s images realizes that potential:<br \/>\n<center><br \/>\n<a data-flickr-embed=\"true\"  href=\"https:\/\/www.flickr.com\/photos\/blackmerh\/6944829639\/in\/dateposted-family\/\" title=\"First banner\"><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" src=\"https:\/\/farm8.staticflickr.com\/7064\/6944829639_7fc4f54a14.jpg\" width=\"374\" height=\"500\" alt=\"First banner\"><\/a><script async src=\"\/\/embedr.flickr.com\/assets\/client-code.js\" charset=\"utf-8\"><\/script><br \/>\n<\/center><\/p>\n<p>\nMy own process is sketched in the series of images below.
