As we were driving back from <a href=\"https:\/\/www.flickr.com\/search\/?w=47445802@N00&#038;q=Acadia%20National\">a day at Acadia National Park<\/a>, the phrase &#8220;<b>he shot him into doll rags, naturally<\/b>&#8221; drifted in and then out again. Mmmm, I thought, I know I read that somewhere sometime&#8230; but how could I find it again? 20 years ago it would have been impossible, but with Google a search for &#8220;doll rags naturally&#8221; got one single hit, a certified BINGO: <a href=\"http:\/\/www.electronicsandbooks.com\/eab1\/manual\/Magazine\/I\/If%20World%20of%20sciece%20fiction%20US\/1961\/1961,%2003%20%28March%29,%20If.pdf\"><b>IF Science Fiction<\/b> March 1961<\/a>, in a story by Julian F. Grow, &#8220;The Fastest Gun Dead&#8221; &#8230; I was a high school senior then, and must have happened on that issue of the mag (though I don&#8217;t remember doing so), or maybe I read it a couple of years later in <a href=\"http:\/\/www.amazon.com\/7th-Annual-Edition-Years-Best\/dp\/B00124ZMX8\"><b>7th Annual Edition: The Year&#8217;s Best S-F<\/b><\/a> (1963). <\/p>\n<p>\nI don&#8217;t advise a Google search for &#8220;doll rags shot&#8221; (too many distressing results, pro- and anti-gun).
