His <a href=\"http:\/\/www.amazon.com\/Sallaneh\/dp\/B0013R9PDW\/\">Sallaneh<\/a> (available as an MP3 download from Amazon for $3.96. Incredible) is one of <i>the<\/i> most endlessly fascinating sonic experiences, at least if you have any weakness for the nuances of the plucked string, and any curiosity about niceties of timbre in acoustic instruments (the instrument, <b>sallaneh<\/b> by name, has sympathetic strings and was designed by Alizadeh himself).<\/p>\n<blockquote><p>(here&#8217;s a link to <a href=\"http:\/\/www.esnips.com\/doc\/4cbae5f4-5eeb-4b1d-aeb9-1d5616dce79b\/Hossein-Alizadeh---Sallaneh-%28Aftab%29\">one of the cuts<\/a> on the CD)<\/p><\/blockquote>\n<p>Alizadeh&#8217;s wonderful 2009 Moon &#038; Fog is available via Spotify, and seems to be lodged at <a href=\"http:\/\/nayzak.blogspot.com\/2009\/12\/hossein-alizadeh-moon-fog.html\">nayzak.blogspot<\/a> for the rar-empowered\/inclined. The instrument here is <b>shurangiz<\/b>, apparently another instrument developed by Alizadeh. The CD doesn&#8217;t appear in Amazon&#8217;s Alizadeh oeuvre, but his 2010 <a href=\"http:\/\/www.amazon.com\/Like-Birds-Angels-Could-fly\/dp\/B0045TJQAW\/\">If Like Birds and Angels I Could Fly<\/a> <i>is<\/i> available via Amazon, and I&#8217;m listening to it as I write&#8230; This necessity to manage multiple sensory appendages is all very confusing to the Enthusiast, and I am coming to have more sympathy for octopods than formerly.<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"<p>Hossein Alizadeh is one of the (scores of&#8230;) musicians I most admire.
