The Liberty e-mail system is PINE.  Use has increased enormously this 
year, both for Internet communication and for e-mail within W&L, and 
students can use library OPAC terminals (as well as lab facilities 
and computer hookups in dormitory rooms) as a way to access their Liberty 
accounts. This has been a mixed blessing, since reference librarians 
often have to provide assistance with the technical niceties of PINE. 
A number of professors have experimented with electronic submission of 
assignments, and it's likely that this use will increase dramatically.
