Library carrels are assigned on a first-come basis starting at 7 AM on
Thursday September 8. You select a carrel, sign for it in the claim
book, and receive a yellow claim form which you put on the carrel to
indicate that it has been claimed.
Carrel Rules include the following:
- Anyone may use any carrel at any time as long as no one else is seated at
it. Do not remove personal items belonging to another person from a
carrel.
- Do not move your carrel...Do not move stuffed chairs to your
carrel as they block the aisles.
- A library staff member checks all
carrels every day and piccks up any library materials that are not
checked out. All reference and reserve material and periodicaals
are also picked up if found on your carrel.
- Please return Open Reserve
material to its proper shelf if you are leaving the
library...
- NO FOOD OR DRINK IN THE LIBRARY except for
drinks in Colonnade cups...
- Do not leave items of value in your
carrel...
- Carrels on the Main level are for short term use only and
are not assigned to individuals. The library staff picks up all
items left on these carrels and on the tables in Reference each day and
places them behind the Circulation Desk.
- Term breaks--please
straighten your carrel and discard trash before leaving.
- At the end of
Spring Term we clear aall caarrels and discard any material left in the
library. We are not responsible for materials or personal belongings
left by students over the summer.
Report any problelms with your carrel, with the stacks, with noise,
etc. to the person at the Circulation Desk
