Audio problems pretty much solved. 

From the Luxman AV/AUX Rec Out to the Mackie Line In 11-12

From the Mackie Main Out to the M-Audio Channel 1 and Channel 2

plugging in the USB tells the laptop to expect M-Audio Mobile Pre as the Sound Recording default device

the playback Default device is set to Sigma Tel so that I can hear the results through the laptop's headphones

It seems that Sound Forge records well enough, but I haven't gotten Audacity to recognize the input yet

On the Mackie, ALL the Control Room Source buttons are down, and the channel 1 MUTE is down
