I've been seeing Singularity bruited about more and more, and thought I should devote some energies into exploring the language that buoys AI —that has in fact created AI... which everybody knows is "Artificial Intelligence". But as Max Nigh was wont to say,
So I went hunting AI lexicons. Here's some of the haul, needing to be interrogated for how AI is written about by the various sectors and stakeholders in the world(s) of AI. The terms in the various lexicons surely offer pretty complex signification to the inquiring lexicologist. And of course Lexicon is what AIs are "trained" upon/within... so there's a LOT of territory to cover.
Always keep in mind Cory Doctorow's Caveat that "AI" is
...and increasingly predatory, possibly mendacious, and in the hands of some supremely arrogant Svengalis whose primary motivations are $$$. And probably power over the muggles, too.

There cannot be "fairness" in Artificial Intelligence (AI) without ensuring that fair work principles are respected. "Transparency" cannot be achieved when hundreds of workers are excluded and silenced. AI cannot be "responsible" without caring for the livelihoods of the people in developing countries who make this technology possible. Protecting workers and their communities, their rights, and their perspectives on the technologies that they help create remain essential steps to justice and co-liberation in artificial intelligence development. In one of the introduction posts for the platform workers for a major tech company, one of the frequently asked questions included "I got a task asking for something illegal. What do I do?"
OED on AI:
Artificial intelligence; the capacity of computers or other machines to exhibit or simulate intelligent behaviour; the field of study concerned with this. In later use also: software used to perform tasks or produce output previously thought to require human intelligence, esp. by using machine learning to extrapolate from large collections of data. Also as a count noun: an instance of this type of software; a (notional) entity exhibiting such intelligence. Frequently as a modifier.(first noted: Marvin Minsky in 1963)
and 'generative AI'
Generative artificial intelligence; artificial intelligence designed to produce output, esp. text or images, previously thought to require human intelligence, typically by using machine learning to extrapolate from large collections of data; (also) a system, piece of software, etc., used to create content in this way.(first in 1993)
...Generative AI in all its forms will insinuate technology more deeply into the way we live and work than it already is—not just answering our questions but writing our memos and speeches or even producing poetry and art. (Wall Street Journal 11 February 2023)
and on 'artificial intelligence':
The capacity of computers or other machines to exhibit or simulate intelligent behaviour; the field of study concerned with this. In later use also: software used to perform tasks or produce output previously thought to require human intelligence, esp. by using machine learning to extrapolate from large collections of data. Also as a count noun: an instance of this type of software; a (notional) entity exhibiting such intelligence. Abbreviated AI.
