Assignment 8
for Thursday 11 March, by noon:
You have a book with a yellow PostIt someplace in it, identifying a chapter or other subsection that seemed to me to offer an interesting perspective on the elephant-and-blindmen problem of comprehending Globalization. Your task has several parts, to be realized in a log file entry:
- READ the chapter/section marked
- identify and transcribe one or several passages that epitomise (sum up, convey the message of) the piece
- see what you can find out about the author of your piece --biographical details, Web presence, ideological locus, etc.
- look over the rest of the book, reading bits of it that interest you, and write a summary comment on how the book as a whole fits into the evolving conversation about Globalization
- explore and summarize what others have said about the book (you might start with whatever amazon.com has to offer, but also find how the book has been mentioned on the Web, probably via appropriate Google searches)
Please bring the book to class on Thursday (it's checked out to me...)
