Kinds of Music

It's simply amazing how many genres/styles/types of music we label and distinguish. Leaving aside 'kinds' identified by nationality or ethnicity (like "Irish" or "Ainu"), here's a more or less stream-of-consciousness list I generated in a few minutes:
classical, jazz, bubblegum, easy-listening, house, klezmer, mbube, techno, trad, old-timey, bluegrass, country, rock, classic rock, acid rock, heavy metal, salsa, Latin, reggae, blues, rembetika, raï, tango, fado, nueva cancion, bossa nova, joik, beebop, big band, gamelan, karaoke, surf, baroque, R+B, C+W, Motown, gospel, elevator, ambient, Smyrnaïca, dangdut, jaipong, kronkong, joged, 12-tone, atonal, dawg, sean-nos, bhangra, calypso kaïso, flamenco, zydeco, cajun, biguine, hi-life, swing, norteño, tejano, Carnatic, doo-wop...
Some of these won't be familiar to you, others you'll recognize as subtypes, and some that are completely obvious to you are missing because I didn't think of them.
