Yesterday I happened on mention of The Electric Muse Revisited: The Story of Folk into Rock and Beyond in a context that was compelling enough to nudge me to order the book via Kindle (it doesn't release in paper until September) and start reading. I do preside over a pretty vast music books library, and this seems to fit right in, adding stuff I knew nothing about and treating my own personal musical heroes with appropriate respect. There's a CD compilation https://www.amazon.com/gp/product/B093RKFS8X/ releasing at the end of July (which I've ordered...god, who needs more CDs??), but somebody (one Peter Shaw) has put together a 14 hour Spotify compilation stretching back to the mid-70s version of Electric Muse (and taking in the 1997 and 2008 editions too). I've been listening for a while now and am constantly informed and delighted, both with the presence of British Isles performers I greatly admire and with stuff I've never heard before. https://open.spotify.com/playlist/13uCQ6FdjTKFpqz0Jj5j7Z?si=dfe50dd9ec6a43dd There's an interesting short review of the book-and-album combination: https://thehobbledehoy.com/2021/07/03/the-electric-muse-revisited-carves-new-paths-through-folk-music/
